The restaurant is not on the street. It is in the back left corner of a courtyard behind the Alpine Trading Company. During Octoberfest, the courtyard is home to a large fest tent where various beers and foods are sold like in Germany. Parking is available in the area but, you will need to walk a little to reach the restaurant. During holidays or fest times, the parking fills up quickly. Often lines are waiting to enter the restaurant before opening. They have a main-floor dining area and an upstairs dining area. The German atmosphere and friendly staff make meals enjoyable. Everyone goes out of their way to ensure your satisfaction with your meal and experience. We were seated quickly and our server arrived immediately to take our drink order. She was friendly, outgoing, and welcoming. We both ordered spezi. This was the only restaurant in town that could make one. When she returned with our drinks, she took our food order. I ordered the Cordon Bleu with herb butter, red cabbage, and spatzle with butter. The spezi tastes just like the ones I remember. I enjoyed it very much. The food arrived hot and visually appealing in a reasonable amount of time. The large portions were a pleasant surprise. The Cordon Bleu was tender, and juicy, with excellent texture and taste. The Swiss cheese and ham folded inside a breaded pork cutlet fried golden brown with herb butter on top combined to create an exquisite Cordon Bleu. It cut like butter and tasted fantastic. The red cabbage was not mushy and the taste reminded me of Mama's home cooking in Germany. The red cabbage has a slight vinegar flavor and the expected sweetness. I found it delicious. The spatzle was firm but not hard with a buttery taste. It paired well with my other food making for an excellent lunch. The conversations, decor, and staff returned me for a moment to Germany, even if only for lunch. I'm glad we stopped here for lunch. The Heidelberg is on my list of places to eat when in town.

The food is delicious. The Goulash was so good. The sausage platter is highly recommended. The service was good and courteous. The atmosphere was quiet inside the restaurant. The restaurant is in the main courtyard. During the lunch hour, it becomes extremely busy. Prepare to spend at least half an hour in queue to be seated. The main entrance has stairs but the wheelchairs and strollers accessibility is through the exit door around the restaurant.

This was a really cool place. The food was delicious and the service was great! The schnitzel was so good. My son enjoyed the stew and the mashed potatoes were fantastic! Our server was very pleasant and attentive! Definitely 5 stars! They did have a weird tax and charge for using your credit/debit card. Overall it was priced well for the meals!

Talk about a German restaurant,no need to look further, this is it!!! This was our 2nd time to Helen, GA on a whim (we live 45 min away) and it was a late lunch. The food and service was amazing. I don't eat a lot of that German food bc of sourkrout amongst other things definitely not my thing but I like going to these different style restaurants for my husband, anyway. He ordered some spatzle pork with gravy look interesting, he said it was good. We started off with the fried mushrooms & it came with sour cream & horseradish mix (never in my life would have put that together) but it was really good. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with the German potato salad (which I have been dying to find since we left the PNW). Really good. Decided to order the apple strudel (the menu says flown in from Germany so why try it) The BEST DAMN STRUDEL EVER)!!!! It was so good and it so worth the drive for it again. See the pictures. I can't wait to go back. Definitely a must. The service was great too always a plus. Lots of German decor and music was playing. And I love you go down the alley way to get there. Fun experience and really good food.

After looking up menus of the downtown restaurants, I bookmarked this one for the vibe and menu. We stopped in for a late lunch and the wait time wasn’t too bad. My friend was able to go into a shop to look around while I waited. There’s several floors in here with the bar on the first, and customer tables on the 2nd and 3rd. Service was a tad slow, but we didn’t mind having a chill lunch. We had been walking around town all day. Our server was attentive (as much as she could given how busy it was). I thought the menu prices were appropriate and we really enjoyed our food. I got the schnitzel sandwich and my friend got the wurstsampler, which is great for trying multiple sausages.

One of my favorite places to eat in Helen! The food is delicious and authentic, and the staff treat you very well. I’m not a fan of the fact that the musicians got very close when singing for the new year, but others seemed to enjoy that. They ran out of spaetzel but in the middle of our meal they had more and gave us a plate of it for free, which I thought was very sweet My recommendation is always to try the escargot. It’s amazing It may be pricy to eat here but it’s absolutely worth it with the portion sizes they give you

This was my first time trying authentic German food, and it was amazing. The service was great and the price was reasonable. We will definitely return when we visit the town again in the future.
